If you are good at at making gifts and crafts, you could easily do this as a part- or full-time business.
If you are handy or enjoy the hands on freedom of expression, this would be a great fit for you. Often times, the investment of craft supplies is minimal.
Easy Ways to Make Money : Sell Your Crafts
If you have a craft or hobby that you enjoy doing, and people comment more than out of politeness, you may have a way to earn extra spending cash.
Our society has become so busy that, often times, it's just easier to run out and buy a quick gift rather than take the time to make a nice thoughtful gift.
This is where you come in. If you've got the talent, you may as well offer your talents for sale. People are willing to spend lots of money on nice items.
And, there are so many reasons why people need gifts:
- Baby Gifts
- Birthdays
- Weddings and Anniversaries
- Christmas
- Valentine's Day
- Just Because
- And, many more reasons to celebrate
There are so many places where you can offer your crafts for sale:
- Gift Shops - Usually for a small commission, you can rent space inside a gift shop and give the store owner a percentage of your sales plus the monthly rent for being in the store. This way is typically one of the more expensive ways. If you really want to get into making crafts to sell at lots of retail stores, a good online site is: Wholesale Products Direct. Right now, I hear they are even giving away FREE wholesale websites.
- Online Venues - There are so many places that you can list your crafts for sell on the internet. Be cautious of the selling fees and the commissions you need to pay. Not all charge but quite a few do. One site that we recommend is: Midwest Craft Connection. Our friend sells on that and she loves it (it's FREE)! It's a newer website but is already growing to be a very large and helpful resource for sellers, buyers, and craft show organizers. You could, also, get your own website. There is also: Craigslist, EBay, Etsy, and many more.
- Craft Fairs - Again, Midwest Craft Connection is a fabulous resource for craft shows throughout the USA. These are most often held on the weekends and the cost for one day's booth rent is generally minimal.
- Yard Sales - I know lots of people that sprinkle their crafts in with all the stuff they are getting rid of. Sometimes the crafts sell much better than the rest! This is, also a good way to ease into it to see if you've got the knack and could earn enough to make your own living (without quitting your day job). Oh, and I just learned of another website that you can actually have online yard sales: Local-Yard-and-Garage-Sales-Online.com (LYaGSO.com for short).
Anyway, you get the idea - the possibilities are endless for places to sell your crafts.
The most important step to success is getting your crafts recognized and well-known ... so, be sure that, whenever you are selling your crafts, you have a bundle of business cards on hand with your business name, address, phone number, and email ready to hand out to interested people.
The opportunity to earn a good income making crafts is high. It could start as a hobby to earn a little spare spending cash and easily turn out to be the most fun full-time job you'll ever have! The sky is the limit!
